NaSHA is Built on Three Connected Parts

The Resource Center supports riders, shooters, and those who guide them.
It provides practical resources and shared frameworks to help build skills, improve communication, and support both rider and horse development—without prescribing a single way to learn or train.

(Free and open to everyone)

Rider Progression is rider-focused and outlines the long-term path of development within the shooting horse discipline.

It helps riders understand where they’re headed over time, but it is not evaluated or assigned.

(Free with $35 Membership)

Lesson Levels are horse-focused and used during lessons and ongoing training to track a horse’s readiness.

They are evaluated over time using the Four C’s and indicate when a horse is prepared to begin competing.

Shooting Horse School Reviews

We've met some truly amazing horses and people in this sport, here's a few snippets of what they had to say. Shooting Horse Schools are NaSHA’s clinic format.
Lauren C.
“This is where I started — all those years ago — and why I still love the sport. Take the chance. DO IT! You won’t regret it. Your horsemanship will grow, and the bond with your horse becomes like no other discipline.”
Brooke D.
“MOCMSA/NaSHA schools are the place to start for new shooters. The Smith family builds top tier mounted shooting horses and riders from the ground up. You’ll leave with skills, support, and true friends. I genuinely can’t recommend these clinics enough.”
Meaghan G.
“This was our very first mounted shooting experience. They created a laid-back, inclusive atmosphere and made me feel safe and welcome. Their process was clear, and I was amazed how well the horses handled gunfire by the end of the day — even my horse with past gun trauma. I can’t say enough positives about this school.”
In this sport, fame doesn’t flow uphill.
A rider may win the titles, collect the checks, and enjoy the accolades — but none of it exists without the horse beneath them.

At NaSHA, we believe the horse sets the standard. A good horse has the power to raise his rider up, and to give them glory, respect and honor. When the spotlight falls only on the rider, the horse — the very foundation of the sport — is too often overlooked. We believe the horse deserves more. By keeping the focus where it belongs, we honor the animals that make this sport possible and, in doing so, elevate everyone who rides with them.
