Who NaSHA Is For

NaSHA serves the shooting horse discipline through education, training perspective, and horse-first horsemanship — not competition governance.

If you’re invested in the discipline and want to stay engaged in practical, forward-thinking conversation beyond the politics of the arena, NaSHA was built for you.

In addition to supporting training culture, membership helps fund ongoing efforts to improve visibility and long-term tracking of earnings within the discipline — work that strengthens credibility and recognition for competitors over time.

We support a culture of high-level, horse-first horsemanship that sustains the sport long term — and that culture is only possible when experienced horsemen stay engaged.

Developing Shooters

For riders entering the discipline or refining their foundation, NaSHA provides structure, clarity, and practical tools that support confidence and soundness.

You’ll find:

  • Foundation training resources

  • Pattern tools

  • Conditioning guidance

  • Mental game frameworks

  • Feedback opportunities

Active Competitors

For riders actively competing, NaSHA offers a horse-first lens on preparation, longevity, and thoughtful development.

We don’t set rules or rankings. We focus on the quality of preparation that supports performance over time.

This includes:

  • Conditioning perspective

  • Soundness discussions

  • Bitting and equipment education

  • Mental preparation

  • Seasonal training focus

Professional Horsemen

For experienced competitors and instructors, NaSHA provides a neutral platform for perspective and conversation.

Professional members may choose to:

  • Contribute insight

  • Participate in roundtable discussions

  • Help shape educational direction

  • Support the broader training culture of the sport

NaSHA does not certify instructors or govern competition. We exist to support horse-first education and long-term discipline health.

Who are we for FAQ's

No buzzwords. No fine print. Just clear answers about who we are and who we're for.
I’ve been competing for years. What would I gain from joining?

NaSHA provides a horse-first educational layer that continues beyond foundational training. Members receive:

  • Continuing education through quarterly training and conditioning features

  • Early insight into new educational initiatives and Journal topics

  • Invitations to participate in roundtable discussions and discipline-level conversations

  • The opportunity to contribute perspective to ongoing horsemanship dialogue

Many seasoned competitors join not because they need basics, but because they value staying engaged in the ongoing development of thoughtful training culture within the sport.
