Practice Ready Program

Built for Safety. Designed for the Real World.

The NaSHA Practice Ready Program helps riders and clubs establish a clear foundation before stepping into the arena. By covering core safety concepts, firearm awareness, and arena etiquette, this program supports more consistent practices and helps demonstrate a proactive approach to safety.

For clubs or practice organizers, it provides a simple way to set expectations.
For riders, it offers a clear starting point.

The NaSHA Practice Ready Program is designed to give riders a solid foundation in the shooting horse discipline before stepping into a live practice. It provides a clear, straightforward path to understanding the basics so both horse and rider can show up prepared, confident, and ready to learn. Clubs may use this program as part of their safety protocol or as a prerequisite for organized practices.

What This Program Covers

This program walks through the core elements every rider should understand before entering the arena:

• safe firearm handling around horses
• introducing a horse to gunfire with intention
• understanding patterns and arena flow
• preparing for your first organized practice

This isn’t a replacement for hands-on instruction—it’s a starting point that helps riders arrive prepared and ready to build on that foundation. Get Practice Ready.
