What We Do

We give shooting horse riders and owners a place to build skills, share knowledge, and enjoy their horses in a supportive learning environment. In addition, we are developing a performance tracking system to record earnings, training milestones, and career history—helping riders, breeders, and owners make more informed decisions about their horses and programs. We are not a sanctioning body and do not host or sanction public competitions. We don’t compete with associations—we support them by preserving accurate, cross-association earnings history for horses, riders, and breeders.

Clinics & Schools

Suffice it to say we've seen some stuff in over 20 years in the shooting horse discipline and we know exactly how to help you not scare the bejeebies out of your horse while making them into the war horse you need to compete successfully! Hard-earned lessons, passed on so your horse doesn’t have to learn the hard way. Turning horses into partners, not wrecks—one clinic at a time!

Shooting Horse School

October 18-19th, 2025

Save the date for our requested fall learning opportunity! This was really popular last year so we're doing it again by request. We work hard to develop a specific curriculum for this that has a good mix of foundational training methods and shooting drills that you can take home and roll on with!

Spend one day or both, it's up to you! Priced at $125 per day per person, only FIVE RIDERS accepted each day. Limited pens available to use, priced at $50 for the weekend.

*Participants may bring their own ammo or purchase from us on site*

Wondering about our instructor qualifications?

We've started dozens of shooting horses and a whole lot of people in this sport! We're at the stage of the game where giving back and seeing it continue into infinity is one of our priorities.

Wins come and go, especially at the pro level, but we've had our share of the winners circle! Travis & Katie were the first ever to accomplish winning CMSA Missouri State High Point Cowboy & Cowgirl as father/daughter last season!

We're proud of our 100% home trained horses, and thankful for this amazing sport and all the sponsors and event producers that allow us to have it!

Let us know if you'd like a list of references for our clinics!

Learning Opportunities

20+ years in the shooting horse discipline—we’ll help you build a war horse without blowing your horse’s mind. We're offering trusted experience & steady methods...we help you train smart, not scary!

Clinics

Scheduled on Demand

We offer beginner shooting horse clinics by request, as well as collaborative workshops for intermediate or advanced riders. We were honored in 2024 to put on three full beginner clinics, a workshop and one private mini clinic.

We tailor each event to the participants and their needs, and truly love watching the breakthroughs that are a natural byproduct of the learning process!

More info on the clinics/lessons page, contact us to register.

Riding Lessons

Scheduled on Demand

We do offer both individual and group haul-in lessons on developing your shooting horse and general horsemanship. These are less 'get your heels down' and more 'lets try this bit and see if it helps' kind of style.

We chose this sport for the deeper communication it requires of a horse and rider and that's always the end goal for us when helping people.

More info on the lessons page, contact us to set them up.

The Facility

The home base for NaSHA is located seven miles north of I-70 and Columbia. Our arena is a 250 X 120 outdoor pen with excellent footing that is the location for most of our learning opportunities. Since it's our home arena and free for us to use, I'm just gonna write something here that makes it sound cool, ok? Ok.
This private facility features a fully fenced property in a secluded valley setting with plenty of parking. A fun little woods hill trail to take with creek crossings, a 60ft shaded sand round pen and plenty of warm-up space next to the arena work well for shooting horses in training. Note to self: I need to re-read that when I'm feeling too lazy to ride.
We work hard to provide a laid back atmosphere that encourages collaboration and learning. If you're gonna be a jerk, get outta here with that jazz. If you're gonna scream corrections at people across the arena, be forewarned we may just silently hand you duct tape with a frowny face. Way different than cheering for each other, we have a lot of that!

The creek is just beyond the treeline in this background photo, with a big pasture in front of it to the right. It's fantastic camping, both to pitch a tent or set up your LQ!

As with all outdoor pens, we're weather dependent. Please text Laura at 573-881-3833 for weather updates. I'll do my best not to vent to you about our great state's weather patterns when I respond. No promises.
Note: We do have access to an all-weather covered arena for a backup for many of our schools & clinics.
